Budget is a Four-Letter Word
Posted on October 11 2016
As I'm finishing my Spring 2017 orders, my least favorite word "budget" comes into play. I hate this concept in my job, as well as in my life. It always makes me feel like I am wearing a straight jacket. That being said, I try to begrudgingly adhere to a budget.
I've struggled more than usual this season because I saw so many exciting, fresh collections.
I wrote about Mignonne Gavigan scarf necklaces in my last blog. We have reordered these twice in the last 3 weeks. They are an aesthetic concept that is fresh and innovative.
Rosella Jardini is an incredible collection of dresses designed by a French-Moroccan and manufactured almost entirely in New York. I met Yigal and his dog Jagger(who appears in many designs) in his New York showroom.
Yigal designs for a modern muse who is effortless and confident. He is known for his expert draping and distinct construction, the signature appeal is minimal and fresh, with precise attention to detail and inventive quality fabrics including rich jacquards and knits with cutouts.
Another breathtaking find is Tomorrowland. After being a dynamic force in Japan for 38 years, the collection has been introduced to the US-known for casual but elegant, genderless, timeless takes on casual classics. I can't wait for the debut for Resort '17. Here is a look at their New York boutique.
There are many, many more discoveries that I can't wait to share. Can you see why I had such a difficult time keeping in budget?
Until next time.
